Why not finish off your day with a wine tasting?

Description

Sunday 17th November, 10am - 4pm

Take time out for yourself to connect with the season, explore creative carving, and experience printing with a 19th-century press. The day begins in our tasting room, where your tutor Rachel will introduce you to the linocut process. This will be followed by a walk round the vineyard and winery, where you'll gather ideas and motifs to use as the basis for your prints. Back inside, Rachel will guide you through basic design principles helping you turn your sketches and photos into a final composition. Whether you create your own design or opt for a pre-made template, you’ll learn transfer techniques, master image reversal and get hands-on carving your tile using specialist tools.

By this point, you might be in need of refreshment, so it’s time for a light lunch and (after you’ve finished carving your linocut) a glass of sparkling wine. Once revived, it’s time to print and see your art come to life as you ink up your linocut and print a series of greetings cards using a cast-iron 19th-century press. You’ll also have the option to perfectly finish off your day with a wine tasting at the preferential price of £10 per person.

Over 18s only.

What you need to know: All materials, printing equipment, lunch and a glass of sparkling wine are provided. Please let us know of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. Non-alcoholic options are available. Please bring with you an apron or painting shirt, as well as a sketchbook and pencils. The easy-carve postcard-sized linocut tiles (approximately 15cm x 10cm or 6” x 4”) make this workshop ideal for beginners or those seeking a refresher. Once cleaned and dried, your linocut tile can be taken home and used to print again and again.
