Grapes: Pinot Meunier
Harvest: 12th October 2022. Picked at 18.7 Brix & 10.5 TA
Winemaking: Gently pressed into stainless steel tanks to undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Left to its own devices, this tank gently bubbled along for a full 12 months undergoing primary fermentation and natural malolactic fermentation. This is by far the longest fermentation we’ve ever seen at Westwell and the long slow process has resulted in a superb wine with its own unique signature.
Bottled: October 2023. No filtration or additions
Colour: Copper rose
Nose: Wild strawberries, white cherries, violets
Palate: Redcurrants, red apples, peach stone
Food match: Serve chilled with breakfast or sardines on toast.
